Hi guys,

What a great website - and brand new! I'm an english chick planning to come to South Africa in November/December for some kiting. I'm novice, but self-sufficient. I was thinking about flying into Durban and trying to do some intensive kiting there, up and down the coast and maybe into Mozamique. Can you give me any tips/ideas. what about the conditions/wind - is it definietely worth the trip at that time of year? I've got a 10 metre but thinking of investing in a second (cabrinha crossbow) as a second kite - what size would you recommend?

All info would be VERY much appreciated.

See you soon!

Hi Suse

I would recomend you come to Cape Town during the Nov / Dec months as the wind here is a lot more consistant. Moz & Durban are great to visit around August when the winds are best there.

I would say the best kite for you in Cape Town will be the XBOW 7m They retail here for about R7890 ex vat.

No problem if you have more questions, please mail me on grant@cabrinha.co.za

Cheers

Grant

Hi Suse

Durban is great for kiting in November and December, warm water and plenty of wind as well as a variety of conditions from flat water lagoons to waveriding in the ocean. Mozambique is a favorite spot of mine and definately worth a visit. If you decide to make the trip up, give me a shout (info@kitesports.co.za) and I will put you in touch with some of the local kiteboarders in the area. Also, go to my site www.kitesports.co.za and check out the "learn to fly, Mozambique" page for more info on the conditions.

Good luck

Hey there

Durban is excellent Novemebr Decemeber right in our Season - (which starts August and goes through to January ish ) -

Shark - No sweat - we have sharknetted beaches
Wetsuit - don't bother - water is warm almost year round !
Plenty of uncrowded spots -

Big five Game Reserves 2 hours drive from Durban if you want to get a load of the local wildlife

Check out www.ocean2air.co.za for info on our beaches and spots -

But most of all you are going to love the exchange rate -

Mozambique - 4hrs away !!

Well, that settles it then. I'm also inbound to SA in December. Three days in Jo'berg doing nothing. Maybe it's best getting to Durban for my kiting. Great website.

Suse well the time has come for you to visit !!!!!!!!

Just an update on Durban weather.

The NE has been blowing and we have been kiting at least 3-4 times a week with ave 15-20 knots.

It is getting very warm ( 25-30 c )
so bring lots of sunblock.

Hope to see at Kite Beach ( that would be on the Northen side od Durban )

Durban is the best place in South Africa! Warm air and water all year round, good winds most of the year, and a magic vibe.
