I'm Canadian and thinking about coming to South Africa for at least 3 months. What would be a good way to do that there? Can I rent an apartment and how close to kiteable beaches? What about kite sizes? I hear the wind is great almost all year round. Would I need a renta car/auto? What are some basic costs? I'm in Mexico enjoying the Carribean now but, I am looking for a new site to park my butt and ride where its warm!! Sure would be helpful. Thanx for the input.

Hi

Sorry about the lack of response, this is a new site and still getting momentum

Cape Town is the 'main' spot which attracts most people as it gets very good and strong wind (size 7 or 9 kite most used)

Most people stay in this region where the mainstream kiting takes place

this area http://www.safarinow.com/destinations/south-peninsula/hub.aspx is about 45 minutes south from city and is more scenic and amazing conditions

Langebaan http://www.safarinow.com/destinations/west-coast/map.aspx is one of the best flatwater spots in the world, a blue lagoon with warm water

Durban also has great conditions and warmer water http://www.safarinow.com/destinations/durban/hub.aspx

You need to rent a car http://www.safarinow.com/cms/car-rental/irie.aspx to get around, not much useful public transport in SA for kiting purposes

SA is a hot destination for kiting, come over!

Cheers
Matthew
