Just in from CAUTION KITES:

>>I would like to let everyone know about the new Speed Record that was set last week on a Stock 9m Caution ANSWER, of an average of
50.424knots over 500 meters. Congratulations to Tillman!>>

50 kts is the BIG ONE that everyone has been chasing and it looks like the kites have got there 1st

More info and the exact details will be posted as soon as I have them, but the fact that it's been done on a stock standard 9m CAUTION ANSWER says a lot for the product

For more info, or to order yours, info*@*tsunamisports.co.za or 0836575759

Arguments etc all taking place here if you feel that you need to argue against it : http://www.kiteforum.com/phpbb/viewtopic.php?t=2334500&start=0

The bottom line is that the dude did just over 50kt, recorded on GPS and verified by quite a few people so far. It's the same methodology that's used by lots of guys around the world and even locally on the windsurfing and kitesurfing "GPS speed circut", and is accepted by all and sundry.

I think it means quite a lot actually:

I think it means the guy was hauling ass

Maybe the subject title should be GPS SPEED RECORD SMASHED  so as not to mislead

Old News...

Alex Caizergues produced a 51.6 2 sec burst with 2 runs over 100m above the 50 mark. Awesome stuff.

The whole debate about the "Official" WSSRC speeds is valid when all competitors are riding the same place at the same time. The beauty of GPS speed Sailing - see www.gps-kitesurfing.com" for more - is the freedom to do it anywere, at anytime and with anyone or just on your own.

More information about GPS Speed Sailing in SA can be obtained from rob@windfreak.com

Cheers

Rob
