I would like to know if there are any kitesurfing lessons at the Bronkhorstspruit Dam.

Where, when, cost, etc.

Hi Melissa
Bronchorstspruit is not the preferred spot for kitesurfing as the wind is very gusty and it surrounded by fences and trees. Better are Sterkfontein Dam, Groot Draai Dam and Vaaldam. You can contact Anton Nel on 0836306732 for inland Kitesurfing lessons. And join WindSpot SMS at http://www.joluka.co.za/sports/subscribe_sms.htm where you receive an sms for the next traing event.

Hi Melissa. Best place to learn at the beginning stagers is down at the coast as our winds are steady and not gusty like the inland winds which makes your learning curve alot safer and easier. Feel free to log onto our web site and we would be more than happy to accomodate you down in Durban.

Hi Melissa I see you got a reply from www.kitesports.co.za down in Durban. They're brilliant. I did my lessons with them just over a year ago. The guy to speak to is Sin. He's right. The wind is more consistent than up here in JHB and it'll make learning a lot easier. Good luck Ryan

I know I'm repeating this post, but it's probably worth repeating, given how much lightning you guys get up there. Watch out for lightning - I almost got hit once at Bronkies...

Hi Melissa.
There is some awesome kiting in Johannesburg and surrounding areas and no need to travel 100's of km's to go kiting. Winds and water's are also safe enough to learn. Safety has got more to do with equipment, personal skill and guidance, than conditions. As long as it's not blowing gail force winds and you are trying to learn. Joluka offers kitesurfing lessons from R 180 per hour. Please phone Joluka's kitesurfing instructor, Anton Nel on 0836306732 for more information on lessons. Best spot is Sterkfontein Dam or Standerton for learning, but Vaaldam in the right wind direction is also good. You can also sign up to our windSpotSMS service, where we will send you an SMS whenever Joluka organises Kiting Demos and lessons. Go to http://www.joluka.co.za/shopping to sign up.

P.S kyleKite - who does Joluka need to be aware of?!?

HI

There is a inland kitesurfing assosiation that just started up which gain legal rights at certain dams around Gauteng. because some kiters messed up at certain dams, this awesome sport was banned from a few good local spots. The association focuss on giving you service that matters. please visit www.inlandkitesurfing.co.za for more detail.

We also provide you with good tarining as well as access to the local, legalised spots

Regards

Xblade
