| Warning: I am about to Pimp my Ride
Congratulations to Raymond for developing an awesome machine in the form of the Long Ocean Tremor, arguably one of the finest pieces of kitesurfing techonology ever to be produced on these shores.
We started at Sunset Beach, with the South Easter shunting around 25 knots + and the waves nuking - combination of high tide, last week's storm, the semi-full moon, and the general anger in the ocean.
It was possible to hold down a piece of ageing technology, in the form of a Cabrinha 2005 10m2 Black Tip NO2, due mainly to the fin setting on the board, it's balance, the usual Long Ocean durability and incredible ability to go upwind. It responds effortlessly to the slightest shift in pressure from the feet, and somehow made it even easier to land the (several) out of control jumps that happened all too often.
We managed to make it to Doodles in once piece, in the far-from-record time of just over 2 hours, weaving through the Dolphin Beach hotel crew, evading the Kite Beach set (from beginner to pro) and surviving the much larger sets between Kite & Doodles beaches. What a blast.
Well done to Raymond and all at Long Ocean for a great product. |
