In january me and me friends ordered in Cape Town 3 boards and 3 kite from Spowy (alias Gavin Spowart), paying in advance the total amount.
He assured us that he would have shipped to italy everything in a couple of weeks.
4 months have passed and we are still waiting.
He does not answer to the phone neither to the mails or the skype calls.
I've a friend in Cape town who went to Spowy's shop a few days ago: He told us that Spowy is not there anymore and there is another owner of the Slingshot shop in Big Bay and, obviously, he does not know anything about our order..
Well.....what can I say? I'm sure I've lost my money.......So everybody be careful with that guy: He is a really good shaper but you can't ever give him money in advance for his work!!!!!
He is a shame for kitesurf!!

I received this morning an e-mail from spowy.
He seems to be ready for the shipping.
Maybe we are sorting it out.

Hi,
I still did not receive the kites, but the good news is that Spowy seems to be ready for the shipping.
The boards are ready (I received this morning some pictures) and the kites will arrive in a few days as he told me.
I should receive everything in a couple of week.

| I have dealt with Spowy and let me tell you I have never had one problem with him. He is honest and you get your goods. Be patient with him making your boards. It is not a one day job!
If you want cheep cheep stuff then find a chinese prostitute! He has pride in his work and you are not the only one he is making boards for.
Not gunning you but ave respect for the guy and dont bad mouth him before you have your facts! |

| Hi Guys lets not start a fist fight here ,I ordered some stuff from Spowy today,so lets see what happens. Give the guy a chance maybe there was just a screw up somewhere. But if not,then you`ll be hearing on this thread about it. |

hi i also orderded a board from gavin in janury,and have not receved it yet.i was sent a picture of the finished board which looked great in march and i was told it would sent in a few days.(IM STILL WAITING)im one relly pissed off irish guy |

| He sent me pictures of the boards but I've never received them anymore.
He wrote me saing that he was totally broke and didn't even have money for the shipping
I told him to ship boards in cape town where I ve a friend but he did'nt do it...
I just want to remember that I ordered 3 boards and 3 kites and I paid in advance...so everybody be careful with that guy...never pay him in advance!!!! |

| hi renzo i feel your pain matey,i have even offered to send a courier from ireland to go and pick up my board,and all i need is the size and weigt of the board packaged up and he won t even give me that much,at least he let you know he was skint,i had to find this out myself from people who know him in cape town.i think he is a COWARD for not letting me know what the story was from the start,and letting jackie in the office in durban take all the shit from pissed off customers.........i hope you see this gavin i hope you sleep well at night..... |

I really don't think that we will receive our gear from Gavin.
He seems to be totally broke.
I've heard that even the official slingshot italian dealer is still waiting for some boards that he paid in advance!!

Hi
I've been a supporter of Gavin for the last four years, I've enjoyed his products especially his wave boards and sold his boards in our kite store when ever I could get hold of them. He's always been a bit sketchy with orders and he's taken his time with them on occasions. I spoke to gavin last week and asked what was happening and he told times have been a bit tough, but he was still up and running. With this in mind I gave him the benefit of the doubt saying I would support him in any way I could even if it was with small orders. Thinking it would be a shame for the industry to lose such a good shaper.
I only wish I had seen this thread last week. I paid Gavin last week $1000.00 in cash for some spare parts and a replacement board, only now to find my emails are not answered and no sign of the goods. So you could say "I'm a bit F@@ked off". I would like to ask anybody that knows Gavin personally to tell him that no matter how bad things get in life you can alway pick yourself up dust yourself down and move forward keeping your respect and dignity. Gavin you'll find allot of support off people through these tough times if you only go on record and set the record straight, taking money from people who are here to help and support you and then to stick your head in the sand is just cowardly. I'm a firm believer in Karma so what will be will be and I will be in Durban at some point. Do the right thing Gavin and prove me wrong. |

Hi all i have a friend in the UK that paid him 10 000 pounds for boards for his shop that have never been received. The boards were paid for in January and he has yet to received them. I found this info for all the people that have been robbed he seems to have another company building kitchens with you money please see the link below.
